The FATIMAT project

Logos KaHo, FATIMAT, MOPT

The FATIMAT project is housed within the 'Mechanical Design and Production Technology' (MOPT) education, which is available at the 'Technologiecampus Gent' of KaHo Sint Lieven university college. The two main researchers are assisted by thesis students and foreign students participating in the Erasmus project.

Jurgen Symynck

Jurgen Symynck works fulltime on the FATIMAT project, where his main tasks are gathering and studying of fatigue and durability related literature, studying and evaluating the different fatigue testing machines present in the lab, evaluating acquisition and simulation software and writing articles and papers summarizing the results of his research. Filip De Bal brings considerable expertise in the project, building on years of experience wich quasi-static destructive testing, for which he is well known in the industry. He coordinates the project and brings partners and funding to the project.

As a full time lector at MOPT he teaches 'Material Science' amongst other courses. On regular intervals, he teaches "Contemporary Tensile Testing using Zwick machines and software" training courses (in Dutch, French or English, download brochure), for which its quality always guarantees sold-out training sessions. MOPT lectors & researchers

For the machining and the building of the 'Rotating bending machine' (see elsewhere on this site) we could count on the expertise of our colleagues from the MOPT education, namely Dirk Pieters, Filip Dheere and Geert Poelman, under supervision of Guido Decorte (: Guido dot DeCorte at KaHoSL dot be)

Daniele Brandolisio

Daniele Brandolisio is a Mechanical Engineering student (Master Degree) from the University of Udine, Italy. Under the supervision of Filip De Bal and others he did the bulk of the designing of the ' Rotating Bending Machine' after the theoretical study of the metal fatugue topic and the problems involved in testing. With the support of the lectors mentioned above, he accomplished the construction of the apparatus.
